CIVILIAN MEMBERS

The Corporate Services of the Cobourg Police Service includes two branches and is responsible for processing “over the counter” criminal record checks for the residents of Cobourg and citizens in the surrounding area of Cobourg and Third Party Criminal Background Checks.

We are the largest and leading Third Party Criminal Background Checks police service in Canada. Corporate Services is made up of 35 civilian part-time employees and 3 full time civilian employees who process criminal background checks via Third party Companies across Canada for applicants who are looking for employment or volunteering. Our staff consists of a diverse, energetic group of people with a wide range of interests and backgrounds whom are skilled at conducting criminal background checks as well as providing excellent customer service to the clients they serve. Funding to operate the Corporate Services Division of the Cobourg Police Services, including all personnel costs, is 100% generated through the work done by the department. What started as a “side” business has now become an important source of revenue and a major employer for the Town of Cobourg. In 2015, third party criminal record checks generated gross revenue in excess of $1,000,000.00 – by the end of 2019 this number is expected to surpass $4,000,000.00. We are now looking forward to introduce new emerging technologies to benefit our organization which in turns benefits the residents of Cobourg.
