A 31-year-old Cobourg resident has been arrested for drug trafficking after being observed with open alcohol.
On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers on general patrol in the area of George Street and Havelock Street in Cobourg observed two individuals with open alcohol. Police subsequently entered into an investigation under the Liquor Licence Control Act.
Uniformed officers, with the assistance of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, arrested both individuals. One individual was found in possession of controlled substances with an estimated value of $4,500.

- approximately 22 grams of crack cocaine
- approximately 13 grams of crystal methamphetamine
- approximately 7 grams of cocaine
- approximately $717 in Canadian Currency
As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old Cobourg man was issued a Provincial Offence Notice and released. The second individual, Ashley Head (31) of Cobourg, was charged with
- Having liquor in open container in unauthorized place
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance – fentanyl
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance – crack cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance – crystal methamphetamine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance – cocaine
- Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
- Fail to comply with probation order
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
