A 35-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police made a warrant arrest on Friday night.
On Friday, April 25, 2025, at approximately 11:50 p.m., police on patrol in the downtown area of the Town of Cobourg observed a man wanted on an outstanding Warrant for breaching a probation order. Police arrested the 35-year-old Cobourg man. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the male was found to be in possession of narcotics and a spring-loaded switch-activated knife.
As a result, the man was charged with failing to comply with Probation, Possession of a Schedule 2 Substance, and Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The accused was released on an undertaking with the mandatory condition to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on June 4, 2025.
UPDATE – Ninth Person Arrested Joint Investigation – Project Amalie
COBOURG (April 29, 2025) – A ninth person was arrested as a result of a multi-Jurisdiction investigation.
On Monday, April 28, 2025, Madison TAIT (27) of Courtice was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with the following offences:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in schedule I substance – cocaine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in schedule I substance
- Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
- Careless storage of firearm
The accused was held for bail and subsequently remanded into custody.
