COBOURG (February 19, 2025) – In response to community feedback raised during a town hall meeting, the Cobourg Police Service (CPS) increased targeted patrols in downtown Cobourg in November 2024.

From January 27 to February 9, 2025, uniform officers, special constables, and auxiliary members completed 42 additional downtown foot patrols during key hours in the morning and evening. In addition, officers completed 155 proactive property checks.

These patrols focus on proactively addressing community safety concerns and crime. Enhanced downtown patrols will continue as resources permit.

Background

Residents have expressed a strong desire for a more noticeable police presence in the early morning and evening hours to enhance safety and security in our vibrant downtown core. In November 2024, CPS members, including sworn officers, special constables, and auxiliary members, increased targeted patrols downtown.

These efforts are part of a broader strategy to increase engagement between police and the public, addressing community concerns and crime proactively to maintain safe neighbourhoods for all.
