COBOURG (January 23, 2025) – In response to community feedback raised during a recent town hall meeting, the Cobourg Police Service (CPS) increased targeted patrols in downtown Cobourg in November 2024.
From January 1 to January 14, 2025, uniform officers, special constables, and auxiliary members completed 21 additional downtown foot patrols during key hours in the morning and evening. In addition, officers completed 45 proactive property checks.
These patrols focused on proactively addressing community safety concerns and crime. Enhanced downtown patrols will continue as resources permit.
Background
Residents have expressed a strong desire for a more noticeable police presence in the early morning and evening hours to enhance safety and security in our vibrant downtown core. Starting at the end of November, CPS members, including sworn officers, special constables, and auxiliary members, increased targeted patrols downtown.
These efforts are part of a broader strategy to increase engagement between police and the public, addressing community concerns and crime proactively to maintain safe neighbourhoods for all.
