A 28-year-old Cobourg man was arrested for prohibited driving after police witnessed the man perform a stunt in a parking lot in Cobourg.
On Friday, January 3, 2025, at approximately 11:50 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop after observing a man doing a ‘wheelie’ riding an electric dirt bike through a parking lot on Elgin Street. As a result of the police investigation, the 28-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with the following:
- Drive while under Prohibition CC 320.18(1)(A)
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – all tires not in contact with highway HTA 172(1)
- Drive motor vehicle – no plates HTA 7(1)(B)(I)
- Drive motor vehicle, no permit HTA 7(1)(A)
- Drive while under suspension HTA 53(1)
- Owner operate motor vehicle on highway – no insurance CAIA 2(1)(A)
The male was issued a 30-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days. The male was released with a future court date.
A 37-year-old Millbrook man is facing multiple weapons and drug charges after police conducted a traffic stop early Saturday morning.
On Saturday, January 4, 2025, at approximately 2:10 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on D’Arcy Street in the Town of Cobourg.
As a result of police investigation, the driver, a 39-year-old female from Millbrook, was charged with fail to produce a licence, fail to surrender permit, and failure to surrender your insurance card.
The passenger was arrested on two outstanding warrants with another police service. During the arrest, police located a quantity of drugs, weapons and stolen property. As a result, Ryan Webb (37) of Millbrook, was charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Prohibited Device
- Possession of a Prohibited Device for Dangerous Purpose
- Carry Concealed Prohibited Device
- Two counts of Possession of Prohibited Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Three counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Crack Cocaine/MDMA/Dilaudid
- Possession of Ammunition
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Possession of Illicit Cannabis
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – to wit Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of a Schedule III Substance – to wit LSD for the Purpose of Trafficking
The accused was held for bail.
A 37-year-old Roseneath woman is facing charges after police were called to a suspicious vehicle Saturday morning.
On Saturday, January 4, 2025, at approximately 3:20 a.m., police were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle on Elgin Street East in the Town of Cobourg.
Police located a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway. As a result of the police investigation, the driver, Jamee Lin Ward (37) of Roseneath, was arrested and charged with two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine and Fentanyl) for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.
The accused was held for bail.
A 27-year-old woman is facing impaired charges after resident reports suspected impaired driving in Cobourg.
On Saturday, January 4, 2025, at approximately 3:50 p.m., police were notified of a suspected impaired driver on Division Street in the Town of Cobourg.
Police subsequently located the vehicle, and a traffic stop was initiated.
Through investigation, police formed reasonable grounds that the driver was impaired. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Cobourg Police Station, where they provided samples of their breath.
As a result, a 27-year-old female from the Township of Alnwick Haldimand was charged with impaired operation and impaired operation – 80 and above.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

A Cobourg woman is facing charges after police are called to a business on Sunday.
On Sunday, January 5, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., police attended a downtown business in the Town of Cobourg, after receiving a report of shoplifting. Through investigation, it was determined that the female selected and concealed merchandise and left without making any effort to pay. As a result, a 36-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
Cobourg woman arrested on outstanding warrants by police on patrol Sunday afternoon.
On Sunday, January 5, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., while on patrol in the downtown core, police observed a female known to be wanted on three outstanding warrants. As a result, a 33-year-old female from Cobourg was arrested and charged with the following:
- Theft under $5,000
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Fail to attend court
- Fail to comply with probation
The female was subsequently released by way of undertaking with a future court date.
A 34-year-old Oshawa man has been arrested and faces charges after fleeing from traffic stop Friday night.
On Friday, January 3, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Swayne Street in Cobourg for a traffic violation. The vehicle fled from police.
Through investigation police identified the driver and determined the vehicle and attached licence plates were reported stolen in the Durham Region.
On Sunday, January 5, 2025, the Centre Hastings OPP arrested Richard Henwood (34) of Oshawa. Cobourg Police attended and returned him to the Cobourg Police where he was held for bail for the following offences:
- Use Plates Not Authorized for Vehicle
- Fail to Surrender Permit for Vehicle
- Fail to Surrender Insurance Card
- Driving While Under Suspension
- Dangerous Operation
- Flight From Peace Officer
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Four Counts of Breach of Probation
