A 22-year-old Cobourg man was charged with stunt driving in the Town of Cobourg. 

On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 10:50 p.m., police conducting speed enforcement on Brook Road North in Cobourg observed a motor vehicle travelling northbound at a high rate of speed.  Using a speed measuring device, police obtained a speed of 146km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone. A traffic stop was conducted.

As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old Cobourg man was charged with stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act.  A driver’s licence suspension was issued for 30 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. The driver was issued a summons to appear before the Provincial Court. 

Dangerous driving behaviours are criminal offences under the Highway Traffic Act.  Stunt driving is not only illegal but incredibly dangerous. It puts the driver and everyone on the road at risk. Police remind motorists to always follow posted speed limits, stay focused, and drive responsibly.
