Ron Kerr and Adam Bureau were elected Chair and Vice-Chair at the January police services board meeting.

COBOURG (January 16, 2024) – At this morning’s Cobourg Police Services Board meeting, in accordance with section 28 (1) of the Police Services Act, R.S.O. 1990, the Chair and Vice-Chair for 2024 were elected.

Cobourg Police Services Board (the Board) members elected Dr. Ronald Kerr as Chair and Councillor Adam Bureau as Vice-Chair.

Chair Kerr and Vice-Chair Bureau will continue to provide leadership and governance, working closely with Chief Paul VandeGraaf and the police service executive team to achieve strategic objectives and priorities for Cobourg Police Service.

Dr. Ronald Kerr has over thirty years of experience as a Board member, having served on the Boards of YMCA Northumberland and Dalewood Golf Club and the Board of The Rotary Club of Cobourg. He has served on the Cobourg Police Service Board as Chair since 2022. He continues to provide leadership on the Board’s Finance, Strategic Planning, and Policy and Labour Negotiations Committees. On January 31, 2022, Dr. Kerr was reappointed by the Executive Council of Ontario as a member of the Cobourg Police Services Board to serve at the pleasure of the Lieutenant Governor in Council for a three-year term.

Adam Bureau is a dedicated business owner with 16 years of experience managing Downtown Cobourg. He is currently serving his second term on the council, exhibiting a strong commitment to enhancing the community. In his previous term on council, Adam diligently championed culture and tourism, and he now undertakes the pivotal responsibility of leading protection services, prioritizing the safety and well-being of citizens. Adam has served as a member of the Cobourg Police Services Board since 2023 and will serve as the Vice-Chair for 2024.
