COBOURG (October 17, 2023) — Cobourg Police Service’s (CPS) Lock It or Lose It campaign encourages drivers to protect their vehicles and vehicle contents from theft. The fall/winter campaign kicks off tonight, and CPS auxiliary members will be conducting Lock It or Lose It on Strathy Road and north-end residential neighbourhoods.

Lock It or Lose It is a crime prevention initiative encouraging drivers to take precautions to protect their vehicles and vehicle contents from theft. Whether parking at work, at the store, or home, leaving valuables in plain sight or the vehicle unlocked makes an easy target for thieves.

The campaign runs all year with a particular emphasis leading up to and during the holiday season.

Here are some tips to protect your vehicle and its contents:

What to expect from a Lock It or Lose It canvas

With this initiative, CPS auxiliary members in uniform examine vehicles parked in parking lots, on the street, and in residential driveways to confirm they are locked, and no valuables have been left in view.
