Our Auxiliary Officers greatly support safety in our community, from CPTED audits to Lock It or Lose It campaigns, community events and more. We thought we’d take the opportunity to introduce some of our current Auxiliary members.
Meet Auxiliary Police Sergeant Mike McCarthy!
In October 2021, Cobourg Police Service was looking for Auxiliary members, and Mike was looking for a way to get involved in the community. It wasn’t long after Mike was accepted into the Auxiliary program before he jumped in and started making “waves.” He joined the CPS team and participated in the 2022 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics, raising $980 – he was one of the service’s top fundraisers! In March of 2023, Mike was promoted to the rank of Auxiliary Sergeant, where he now contributes to the development of Auxiliary Officers in addition to the Auxiliary program. When Mike isn’t working as an Auxiliary, he can be found spending time with family and close friends or cruising around on his motorcycle.
Right now, until November 17th, 2023, our applications for Auxiliary Recruitment are open! If you are interested in joining our Auxiliary division, please apply via the link here: cobourgpoliceservice.com/auxiliary-members/
