COBOURG (September 14, 2022) – Cobourg Police Service reminds residents to renew licence plates.
While licence plate renewal fees and stickers have been eliminated in Ontario since March 2022, vehicle owners are still legally required to renew their plates to confirm their automobile insurance is valid. Vehicle owners can renew their licence plates every one or two years for free through ServiceOntario.
Anyone operating passenger vehicles, light duty vehicles under 3,000 kilograms, motorcycles and mopeds must have a valid licence plate and be insured to legally drive in Ontario. Renewal generally takes place before the owner’s birthday.
