The Board directs staff to prepare and tender a Request for Proposal

COBOURG (August 24, 2021) – At a special meeting held on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, the Cobourg Police Services Board (the Board) unanimously approved a motion to take the next steps in the exploration of a body-worn camera program.

With the Board approving the concept of the body-worn camera program, Cobourg Police Service (CPS) staff will now move to prepare and tender a Request for Proposal (RFP), which will provide options for the Board to consider in operationalizing the program.

“The Board’s decision today demonstrates a continued commitment to stakeholders, the community we serve and our members. The RFP will provide options for the Board to consider in operationalizing a body-worn camera program. Moving to the next step in the process will guide future decisions and allow the Board to continue to be accountable and responsive to community needs and priorities.” – Chair Dean Pepper, Cobourg Police Services Board

CPS staff will prepare and tender the Request for Proposal in the coming days. Information will be posted and available at the Cobourg Police Service website, and bids will be reviewed, and recommendations presented to the Cobourg Police Services Board for consideration.
